A concerned neighbour contacted the Prince Albert Police around 8:30 Friday night after an injured male knocked on their door asking for help. Emergency crews arrived at the 1000 block of River Street West, and the victim was transported by EMS to hospital with what were believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries.

Prince Albert Police say two males, one known to the victim, entered the victim’s home with an edged weapon and he was assaulted, robbed of his cash and then they took off. Just before midnight that night, Prince Albert patrol officers arrested one of the suspects in the 1000 block of 24th Street West where police say officers seized just over 13 grams of meth and additional evidence of drug trafficking.

Thirty-year-old Chaz Umpherville is charged with robbery, intimidation of a justice system participant, aggravated assault, possession of meth for the purpose of trafficking and possession of cash obtained by crime.  The second suspect remains at large. He is described as Indigenous, shortern than 5’10” with a tattoo on his cheek. Anyone with information is asked to contact the police.
