Correctional Service of Canada reports that an inmate who escaped on December 16th from Willow Cree Healing Lodge has been apprehended. The minimum-security federal institution is located on the Beardy’s and Okemasis Cree Nation west of Duck Lake.

A news release from Corrections says Saskatoon RCMP located Leslie Sand just before 10 Wednesday night. There will be an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the escape.

Before escaping he was serving a sentence of four years, four months, eight days for charges that include possession of a prohibited firearm with ammunition, possession of a firearm knowing it was altered, obstruction a police officer and obtaining cred by false pretences.
