Turtleford RCMP are investigating a suspicious sudden death. Around 5 in the afternoon on New Year’s Day, Saskatchewan RCMP were alerted about a deceased, unidentified male outside of a rural location in the RM of Frenchman Butte, east of St. Walburg, which is about 90 kilometres northeast of Lloydminster.
The preliminary investigation has determined the death as suspicious and a number of specialized RCMP teams have been deployed to help with the investigation. The identity of the male and the circumstances leading up to his death are yet to be determined.
Because of the investigation, a 2 kilometre stretch along Township Road 542 in the RM of Frenchman Butte is blocked off and traffic is being re-routed. There is no estimate as to how long the detour will be in place. There will be an autopsy in the coming days, and police say the investigation is still in its preliminary stages.
