The City of Saskatoon’s Governance and Priorities committee will hear a report from Administration on securing a private partner to help fund a potential new downtown event centre and a new or expanded convention centre. The report says the private partner would manage one or both of the facilities.
Administration has been meeting with members of the local Community Benefit Coalition which is advocating for employment opportunities and training for women, Indigenous people, persons with disabilities, new immigrants, 2SLGBTQ+ community members and visible minorities. The Coalition also wants living wage commitments. Administration is proposing the wage requirement be addressed during the negotiation phase of the procurement after the Request For Proposals. First though, is a Request for Qualifications, which has been deployed to pre-qualify proponents and then an RFP will be issued. Administration will report back in April on the procurement process.
