Current economic challenges didn’t stop people from donating to the “Feeding Holiday Cheer” campaign, put on by the Food Banks of Saskatchewan. Executive Director Michael Kincade says it never ceases to amaze him how Saskatchewan people step up to help. Over $3 million was raised which will help the 36 registered food banks across the province meet the expected high demand this year. That far exceeds the goal, which was $2 million.
Nutrien got things rolling in late November with the announcement of a $250,000 donation, and Kincade says other businesses and organizations followed suit. For example, the Saskatchewan Union of Nurses pitched in $50,000 and Kelly Panteluk Construction donated $100,000. Kincade says that $3 million will really help Saskatchewan Food Banks to fill the shelves, helping people in need. (CKRM)
