A 71 year old Regina man has been charged after an investigation by the Regina Children’s Justice Centre into allegations of sexual assault on a minor. The Children’s Justice Centre is a child-friendly integrated unit with Regina Police, Social Services child protection workers, the Saskatchewan Health Authority’s child abuse physicians and the Crown Prosecutor’s office.
The investigation began on Monday when it was reported to the RCJC that a nine-year-old had been sexually assaulted by a private music instructor. Claro Recto Belen is charged with sexual assault, sexual interference and sexual touching. He has been released on conditions and is scheduled in court March 12th.
Police believe there is the possibility of other victims or witnesses. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Regina Police Service or Crime Stoppers.
