In hopes of finding the perpetrator, James Hentges, the pastor of Regina’s Blessed Sacrament Parish, shared footage of the office entrance being set on fire. The video was released this past weekend, but the arson incident occurred February 9th. They are asking if anyone knows the person in the video or can provide information about the fire, to either contact the Regina Police Service directly at 306-777-6500, or get in touch with Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
The video is 48 seconds long and shows a masked person pouring the contents of a jerry can near the office entrance of the church. It however takes several failed attempts for the suspect to light the contents of the can before fleeing.
The church’s website announced it was cancelling Sunday mass because of the fire and ensuing cleanup from the damage caused. The next mass is on Wednesday. Blessed Sacrament Parish is Regina’s second oldest church still in use.
