Big news out of Moose Jaw Monday…the W-H-L’s Warriors fired head coach Tim Hunter and replaced him with associate coach Mark O’Leary.
A former N-H-L player and assistant coach, Hunter was in his sixth season as bench boss in Moose Jaw and was in the final year of his second contract. The Warriors sit sixth and last in the East Division with an 11-22-2 record and are the second-worst team in the entire W-H-L, ahead of only Swift Current. Under Hunter, Moose Jaw made the playoffs in four out of the last five seasons, but only won two post-season rounds. Two years ago, the Warriors had the league’s best record, but lost in the second round to the Broncos.
