The City of Saskatoon says the number of people who requested a smaller garbage cart exceeded their expectations.
The first intake for smaller black cart requests closed on March 1st and the City says almost 16-thousand requests from residents were received asking for a smaller garbage cart which is equal to 21 per cent of those who use black carts.
Smaller carts will be delivered April through June and will correspond to garbage collection pick up days. If you requested a smaller cart you are advised to leave your existing cart out at each collection day until 6 pm over the course of those three months until yours is swapped out.
There will be another cart swap this fall and requests for those will be accepted on July 8th.
