It opened 13 days later than the previous year and the Meewasin Skating Rink is now closed for the season – nine days earlier than it did last year.
The surface of the rink, to the north of the Delta Bessborough Hotel along Spadina Crescent in downtown Saskatoon, has melted with the ice too slushy for skating – thanks to several days of plus temperatures in concert with clear skies. Despite that, and several closures during the season for warm and extreme cold temperatures plus heavy snowfall, Meewasin is saying the skating rink season was a success. Meewasin will release details on their spring and summer activities in the next few weeks.
