The value of building permits in Saskatchewan fell about 11 per cent in November. Five other provinces also saw drops, three of them greater than ours. Nationally, there was an average drop of 2.4 per cent. Year-to-year, the numbers were off about 17 per cent here. Five other provinces experienced declines with British Columbia taking a larger hit than us. Nationally, the average decrease was 2.7 per cent. Total sales in the province in November stood at $122.4 million.
Saskatoon registered a month-to-month drop of about 24 per cent. 21 other CMAs were also in negative territory. 10 had larger drops than ours. The national average was a decline of about 10 per cent. Compared to the same month the year before, the value of building permits were down 17 per cent in Saskatoon. 17 other cities were also down. 12 had lower drops than ours. The national average was a drop of 8.6 per cent. The total value of building permits in Saskatoon in November was $51.4 million.
Regina managed to experiences rises in the values for both periods: 3.5 per cent month-to-month and 3.8 per cent year-to-year for a total value of $46.5 million.
