Education Minister Jeremy Cockrill says he is disappointed by the STF’s announcement of more job action for next week. In a statement he says the government wants to make sure students aren’t negatively impacted any further and more details are coming next week.
He reiterated that the government has moved on many of the items the Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation has asked for, and they are prepared to create and “accountability framework” connected to the multiyear funding agreement. Cockrill says the STF needs to focus their efforts on bargaining while the union says class size and complexity needs to be in the contract.
The Education Minister says he has been heartened to see teachers, students and parents work together to ensure some activities have continued despite sanctions.
