For the first time in the tournament’s 52-year history, Kelly Bowers isn’t a part of BRIT.

Bowers passed away September 17, 2019 at age 70.

The Bedford Road Invitational Tournament and the school itself paid tribute to Bowers during Thursday’s opening ceremonies by revealing that the Bedford Road gym has been re-named the Kelly Bowers Gymnasium (pictured).

A 34-year teacher and administrator, Bowers was heavily involved in sports…both school and club activities. He was a Bedford Road grad as well as a teacher and coach for several sports.
