Indigenous students will have more opportunity to learn in their first language.
A news release from the provincial government says through just over $100,000 in funding, the First Nations University of Canada will deliver two new Indigenous Teacher Education Programs.
One is a new Dene Teacher Program in Hatchet Lake Denesuline Nation and the other is a Cree Teacher Education Program in Waterhen Lake First Nation.
They are delivered by the First Nations University of Canada in Partnership with the University of Regina.
Students can study in their own language in their home community for a Bachelor of Indigenous Education.
In the current school year, 216 students enrolled in seven Indigenous Teacher Education Programs across northern Saskatchewan.
