City Administration is recommending the construction of a city-owned organics processing facility.
An approval report, which will be presented at Tuesday’s Environment Utilities and Corporate Services meeting, suggests that this would be the most cost-effective option for processing curbside organics from the green cart program, as well as providing public drop off services.
The facility would also replace the West Compost Depot.
The cost impact for residents could be further reduced if the City is successful in its funding application to the Low Carbon Economy Challenge Fund.
