Saskatoon and area should get a brief respite from the extreme cold this weekend.
Teri Lang of Environment Canada says cloudy conditions with light snow should mean a warmer weekend with the temperature hovering around minus 13 on Saturday and a high Sunday of minus 19.
But she predicts another cold snap is on the horizon.
Lang figures the gradual return of frigid temperatures amid a clear sky to intensify mid-week with overnight lows in the minus 40 range and remain that way through the weekend.
She doesn’t see any warm air on the horizon once the cold air returns.
