A three-and-a-half year investigation into the disappearance of MacKenzie Lee Trottier will resume on May 1 in a specific area of the City of Saskatoon landfill off Valley Road.
MacKenzie Trottier was last seen on December 21, 2020. Late last year, a substantial amount of data was collected which identified a specific area of the landfill which may contain evidence in the investigation. Thirty-three days have been set aside for the search, if needed. According to a news release from the Saskatoon Police Service (SPS), the area to be searched is about 930 cubic metres and about one metre deep. The search will be conducted by the SPS’s Major Crime Section and Public Safety Unit, along with dogs from RCMP E Division and the Calgary Police Service. They will be consulting with forensic anthropologist Dr. Ernie Walker.
