The RCMP “F” Division Roving Traffic Unit along with the Saskatchewan Highway Patrol were kept busy on Highway 16 last week.
On January 6th near Maidstone, a traffic stop was conducted resulting in police seizing a loaded handgun and approximately $10 thousand dollars in Canadian currency. The passenger, 24 year-old Mahdi Mahdi from Regina was arrested.
He is facing a number of charges including careless use of a firearm and possession of a firearm ammunition in a motor vehicle.
The 24 year-old will appear in Regina Provincial Court on January 21st.
Then on January 7th,near Maidstone, an eastbound vehicle was stopped for having a smashed windshield.
The vehicle was searched and officers found 526 grams of cocaine. The driver, 55 year-old Karl Ericson from Prince George was arrested and charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
He’ll appear in Lloydminster Provincial Court on March 24th.
