An RCMP traffic stop near Kenaston resulted in two men being arrested, one of whom was unlawfully at large.
The traffic stop was conducted by Saskatoon RCMP at about 10:50 p.m. on May 6 with officers determining an occupant of the vehicle was wanted on warrant by Corrections Services Canada and provided a false name to them. Thirty-two-year-old Keli Stonechild of Regina was arrested on warrant and was charged with one count of resist/obstruct a peace officer. The second man in the vehicle, 31-year-old Angus Fox, was also arrested after the officers, assisted by members of the Saskatoon Warrant Enforcement Suppression Team (WEST) located a sawed-off shotgun, a knife and a baseball bat in the vehicle. Fox will appear in Saskatoon Provincial Court on June 6 to face two counts of resist/obstruct a peace officer and one count of possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Stonechild, who has already appeared in Saskatoon Provincial Court back on May 7, is also charged with one count of possession of a restricted firearm/prohibited weapon and ammunition without license/registration.
