A three-day event focused on road and railway response starts Wednesday and is being hosted by the Saskatoon Fire Department (SFD).
The Prairie Region Transportation Community Awareness and Emergency Response (TRANSCAER) training event runs through Friday with the SFD using their Regional Training Facility in Corman Park for the road and railway training. According to an SFD news release, the sessions will feature presentations by railway personnel, as well as hands-on learning opportunities, which are intended to inform emergency responders about the different features of railway tank cars and evaluate teams’ emergency response plans by working through scenarios, assessing available equipment and identifying ways to quickly communicate with residents.
