The Saskatchewan Roughriders are back in Saskatoon with their camp resuming on the field Wednesday at Griffiths Stadium.
After beating Winnipeg Monday at Mosaic Stadium in the first C-F-L pre-season game of 2024, the Green and White shuffled import players on and off the roster Tuesday, adding receiver Joe Robustelli while releasing defensive back Nick Nelson. Robustelli is the grandson of New York Giants Hall of Fame legendary defensive end Andy Robustelli, whose first coach with the Giants was another Hall of Famer. Steve Owen was the Riders’ head coach in 1961 and 62. The Roughriders are on the turf Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. with further practice sessions on Thursday and Friday before heading to Edmonton to complete their exhibition schedule. RIDERS SIGN WIDE RECEIVER JOE ROBUSTELLI
The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed American wide receiver Joe Robustelli.
Robustelli (6’2-220) joins the Roughriders after suiting up for the Tusculum Pioneers for the 2023-24 season. The big bodied receiver earned 475 yards on 20 receptions and an eye-popping 23.8 yards per catch while also adding six touchdowns and 11 yards rushing.
In a corresponding move, the Club has released American defensive back Nick Nelson.
