A 49-year-old La Loche man faced four separate charges in a La Loche court Thursday following an early Wednesday morning incident at a residence in La Loche that resulted in one person being killed and another sent to hospital in Saskatoon.
Marty Keith Toulejour was charged with one count each of second degree murder, attempted murder, aggravated assault and arson. Fifty-two-year-old Brenda Toulejour was pronounced deceased at a hospital in La Loche. At about 2:30 a.m. on May 22, La Loche RCMP responded to a call at a residence in La Loche and came upon smoke and flames coming from the structure. While fire fighters from La Loche and the Clearwater River Dene Nation extinguished the blaze, officers went inside and found Brenda Toulejour and an 81-year-old man injured. A news release from the Saskatchewan RCMP did not have an update on his condition in a Saskatoon hospital.
