A 16-year-old male has been arrested and charged with intentional or reckless damage by fire to property following a series of calls to the Saskatoon Police Service in the early morning hours of Thursday.
Shortly after 1:30 a.m. on May 23, police responded to the 100 block of Maningas Bend in the Everegreen neighbourhood for reports of a vehicle on fire. That call was followed by several more calls regarding a suspicious person in the area running from the fire scene. Officers found three burning vehicles with flames threatening a nearby multi-unit residential complex. The Saskatoon Fire Department was able to quickly extinguish the fires, preventing further damage while an SPS news release says patrol was able to locate a youth male matching the suspicious person’s description nearby. He was arrested without incident and was found to have a butane torch in his possession.
