SaskPower has over 1.2 million wood power poles in the province and will be inspecting nearly 105,000 of them this year.
The Crown Corporation says in a news release that crews will be looking for damage, decay and carpenter ant infestations.
Tests will also be performed on about 10,000 overhead transformers in rural Saskatchewan and wildfire protection will be installed on 1,000 poles in Northern Saskatchewan.
The goal of this maintenance is to extend the life of the power poles by repairing and reinforcing them where needed.
