The Saskatchewan Association of Conservation Officers is investigating possible trafficking in bear parts. On May 24th, Pinehouse conservation officers located a black bear carcass in the village landfill. The bear’s head and both front paws had been removed. There was no indication that the bear was shot in a different location and dumped. The information was posted to social media.
And on May 25th Buffalo Narrows Conservation officers received a TIPP call about an untagged bear carcass found with parts removed on a trail off Highway 925 towards Dillon. When Conservation Officers found the bear carcass they say the upper and lower jaws, gall bladder, three legs, and left hind paw had all been removed, with everything else left. It appears that the bear was harvested in another unknown area and dumped at this location sometime between 4:30pm on May 24 and 12:30pm on May 25, 2024.
Anyone with information can contact the TIPP line anonymously at 1800-667-7561.
