Queen City Pride has issued a news release about an event being held at Regina’s Mosaic Stadium organized by Gospel Fire Ministries, saying the organization has deeply troubling stances on members of the gender and sexually diverse community. Gospel Fire Ministries’ Statement of Faith rejects gay marriage, and says that homosexual and bisexual behaviour is a sin and is offensive to God.
Queen City Pride doesn’t condone the use of a publicly funded facility to host groups that promote hate. They are calling on community members, allies and those in positions of authority within the Regina Exhibition Association Ltd, or REAL, to strongly consider cancelling it, or to make sure Gospel Fire Ministries is more transparent of its core content, noting that it is promoting the event as a country concert, but Queen City Pride suggests it’s more about spreading their message.
The pride flag raising is tomorrow morning at 9 at Regina City Hall. June is Pride month.
