The west coast of BC has been contending with uncharacteristic snow and hurricane strength winds. Now it’s the opposite coast and it’s Newfoundland.
Environment Canada describes it as dangerous blizzard conditions for St. John’s and vicinity. They are expecting 35 to 75 cm of snow and maximum northerly wind gusts of 120 km/h except for 150 along parts of the coast. They also have a storm surge warning.
The City of St. John’s has declared a state of emergency. All businesses have been ordered to close and all vehicles except emergency vehicles are prohibited from using City streets.
