A 22-year-old man has been arrested and made an appearance in court Wednesday while an 83-year-old woman is in hospital in Saskatoon following a two-vehicle collision Tuesday in Prince Albert.
At about 2:54 p.m. on June 11th, members of the Prince Albert Police Service, Prince Albert Fire Department and Parkland Ambulance responded to the intersection of 6th Avenue East and 22nd Street East where they found a car and a truck, both heavily damaged. It was determined that the car, driven by the 83-year-old woman, was turning east onto 22nd Street East when it was struck at a high rate of speed by the northbound truck, driven by the 22-year-old man. The woman was taken to Victoria Hospital and later airlifted by STARS to Saskatoon where she remains in serious, but stable condition. The man sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was arresyed after receiving medical attention. He appeared in Prince Albert Provincial Court Wednesday to face charges of dangerous operation of a conveyance causing bodily harm and criminal negligence in the operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm. The Prince Albert Police investigation, with the help of a Saskatchewan RCMP collision reconstructionist, was completed Wednesday with all traffic restrictions lifted. Anyone with information or video recordings from the 2200 to 2400 blocks of 6th Avenue East are asked to contact police or Crime Stoppers.
