Saskatoon Police responded to three separate incidents where guns were involved on Thursday night. Around 8:30, officers responded to the 400 block of Avenue T South for a report of someone having a weapon. A news release from the Police Service says when officers arrived two people were being restrained on the ground outside of a home. They were told the two had approached the occupants of the home in the front yard and threatened them with a gun. They were able to restrain the suspects and it was later confirmed the gun was an imitation handgun. A 17-year-old-boy is facing various firearm-related charges including assault with a weapon and a 19-year-old woman is charged with assault.
A half-hour after the first call, police were called to Broadway Avenue and 10th Street East about a man with a handgun. He was found on the Broadway Bridge, and once again, it turned out to be an imitation gun. The 20-year-old man is charged with unauthorized carry of a concealed weapon and possession of a weapon while prohibited.
Then at 10:30, police were in the area of 20th Street West and Avenue D when they spotted a man known to have warrants for his arrest. Police report that when he was arrested, a loaded sawed-off rifle and ammunition were seized. Along with his warrants, the 26-year-old is facing several firearms-related charges.
