A lengthy, interprovincial search for three Ontario children and their mother, charged with child abduction, has had a recent lead in southern Saskatchewan.
On June 16 at 2:00 am, Boissevain, Manitoba RCMP received a report that three children, who had been previously reported missing in December 2023, from Durham, Ontario, were at the Boissevain Port of Entry.
Officers located the children, unharmed, with their mother, 55-year-old Astrid Schiller. The children were taken into care.
Schiller was arrested for Child Abduction and was later released from custody as her warrant was not extended into the province of Manitoba.
Then, on June 17 at 1:25 am, Blue Hills RCMP received a report that her children were no longer in care at a residence in Forrest, Manitoba, and were again missing.
The RCMP began searching for the boys: 12-year-old Leon, 11-year-old Christopher, and nine-year-old Thomas.
On June 21st, Saskatchewan RCMP located the vehicle that their mother was believed to be driving. The white 2018 Mercedes GLC was found abandoned at Pine Cree Regional Park in the Cypress Hills between Shaunavon and Eastend.
Further investigation has determined Schiller was seen in Assiniboia at a business on 1st Avenue West around 7:00 a.m. on June 17. Police say she was also seen in the Pine Cree Regional Park area on June 19th.
If you have seen Schiller or her three children, please call RCMP or Crime Stoppers.
