With summer weather on the horizon, Medavie Health Services West is reminding everyone to ensure individuals really are injured before calling 911.
Spokesperson, Troy Davies, explains that last summer, paramedics were receiving calls about injured persons and then when they arrived, would realize they were just sleeping in the park.
Davies says, “We appreciate the Good Samaritans who are looking out for others, but please ensure individuals actually require an ambulance before calling.”
He notes that with the increased call volumes and demands on paramedics, responding to false calls, or calls that don’t require an ambulance means taking time away from responding to actual emergency calls.
However, he adds that if you are not sure whether you should call or not, always make the call.
