Big River RCMP say five firearms and a credit card were stolen from a farm home near Debden last Friday. The RCMP says the suspects were driving a white pick-up truck and officers later found the vehicle on Highway 55, near Debden and a traffic stop was attempted, but the vehicle sped off.
Early Saturday morning just after 12:30, Big River RCMP were told of a suspicious white truck parked next to a home on Big River First Nation. It was confirmed to be the vehicle from the break and enter, which it turns out was previously reported stolen out of Aberdeen. An individual had fled into the bushes beside the home, so with the help of a police dog team and a drone, a man was located and arrested. Forty-nine-year-old Aaron Tawpisim of Muskeg Lake Cree Nation is facing charges that include possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, flight from a peace officer and dangerous driving.
Thirty-year-old Chantelle Lachance from Big River is facing charges of possession of property obtained by crime, both over and less than $5,000 and possessing break-in instruments. There is a warrant for her arrest. Chantelle is described as 5’6″ tall and 140 lbs. She has black hair and brown eyes
