Insolvency practice, “MNP limited,” says more Saskatchewan residents are optimistic about their financial future. Net confidence a year down the road here and in Manitoba rose two points since September. And, when comparing their current debt situation to five years in the future, net confidence increases seven points. However despite the increasing optimism, people here still feel worse off now compared to the past. Nearly three in ten residents say their debt situation is worse than it was five years ago. Nearly half aren’t confident that they will be able to cover their family and living expenses without going into further debt this year. Nearly three in ten say they are already insolvent, meaning they cannot meet their monthly financial obligations. That rises to 52 per cent when you include people who say they are $200 or less away from being insolvent at month-end.
