This fall you can expect to see a new pedestrian crossing at 22nd Street and Avenue X.
The City of Saskatoon says it is thanks to a $78,000 grant from the Provincial Traffic Safety Fund. Monies in that fund are generated through photo speed enforcement proceeds.
The crossing will include a pedestrian activated signal as well as pavement markings and signage. Drivers will be required to stop at a red signal.
In a news release Jay Magus, Director of Transportation, says right now there are no pavement markings or illuminated signals at the high traffic location. He says, “Pedestrian safety will be significantly improved once the upgrade is complete.”
