Arriving fire crews could see smoke coming from the house in the 100 block of Avenue V South on Sunday morning.

The call of a house on fire came in at 8:40 a.m. but the house was boarded up with windows doors nailed shut using plywood.

A chainsaw was used to remove the plywood and the fire was extinguished. The fire investigator is determining cause, origin and damage estimate.
