Saskatchewan teachers will be without a contract for at least another four months. The Saskatchewan Teachers’ Federation says the arbitration hearing will take place December 16th to 20th in Saskatoon, to bring the Teachers’ Bargaining Committee together with the Government-Trustee Bargaining Committee with an arbitrator. A news release from the STF says both sides will have the opportunity to submit written positions and make presentations on the two issues, which are wages and the class complexity-accountability framework.
The panel of two, one nominee chosen by each committee, will weigh the facts and rationale and then the arbitrator’s decision will be written in a legally binding report. That will then become part of the collective bargaining agreement. The arbitrator is former USask law professor and dean of the College of Law, Daniel Ish.
