Decades of Dedication is the theme for this year’s Saskatoon Folkfest, which is celebrating its 45th year. Folkfest runs today (Thurs) through Saturday at pavilions throughout the city and a block of pavilions all at Prairieland.
Some go for the food, others go for the entertainment and festivities, and everyone gets a chance to learn more about all the cultures that are in Saskatoon. There are 17 pavilions to visit this year including the Norway, Nepal, Nigerian and Iranian pavilions. Two regulars you won’t see this year are the Scottish and the Ukrainian pavilions. Both are taking this year off.
You will need an ePassport, which you can purchase through the Saskatoon Folkfest website, and once you have that, you can ride Transit for free to the pavilions. Route 150 is the dedicated Folkfest bus, with its terminal in front of Frances Morrison Library on 23rd Street. The buses connect to the pavilions every 20 minutes.
