HUSKIES MEN’S SOCCER:
Huskies Men’s Soccer began their 2024 season on the road with back-to-back games in Calgary with their season opener on Saturday against the Dinos. Calgary started off strong with the opening goal just over three minutes in. Calgary led Saskatchewan in shots with eight compared to Saskatchewan’s six. Calgary would score another goal before the half and one more before the eightieth minute to grab a 3-0 lead and eventually the win.
Saskatchewan was back on the field Sunday afternoon looking to rebound from Saturday’s performance against the Mount Royal Cougars. The opening goal would come from Mount Royal six minutes as they held a 1-0 for the rest of the first half. Mount Royal would score early in the second to make it 2-0 before Ethan Cabral scored for Saskatchewan on a Penalty Kick cutting the lead in half. Unfortunately for the Huskies, their comeback attempt would fall short, losing to Mount Royal 2-1 and falling to 0-2 on the season.
Saskatchewan returns home this weekend for another pair of games including their home opener on Friday against the visiting Alberta Golden Bears.
