Maidstone RCMP are looking for information after a report of a suspicious person who approached a young child at a playground at Sandy Beach Regional Park, which is about 16 kilometres north of Lloydminster. It was reported to police that a man was speaking to a child, and he ran away after being approached by the child’s parent.
Extensive patrols were made in the area, but officers weren’t able to find him.
The man is described as being Caucasian, about six-feet-tall, 180 to 200 pounds with short brown hair. He was wearing navy-coloured running shoes, blue shorts, a grey t-shirt, sunglasses and a hat and he was carrying a beach mat.
Anyone with information is urged to contact the police and RCMP encourage parents to have a conversation with their children about not speaking with strangers, and if they are approached, leave immediately and tell a trusted adult.
