The price of gas has fallen by 4.2 cents per litre in Saskatoon in the past week, averaging at $1.49.3 on Sunday, according to GasBuddy.com’s daily survey. This time last year in Saskatoon, the price of gas averaged at $1.55 c/L. Nationally, the price of gas is also down 4.2 cents a litre in the last week, sitting at $1.49.6. Across the province on average, gas is down 4.2 c/L at $1.54.5 c/L.
Head of petroleum analysis at GasBuddy, Patrick De Haan, says gas prices have dropped to their lowest level since early this year, and he expects that will continue as people drive less with the onset of fall. As well, oil prices are below $70 a barrel, which is the lowest they have been since 2021, so De Haan believes there is room for gas and diesel prices to continue lower for some time. He expects the national average could fall below $1.35 by as early as October, for the first time since 2021.
