Students at the east-side high school will return to class for the first time since a 15-year old girl was set on fire last Thursday.
There will only be a half day of school to help ease students back and there will also be additional counsellors at the school.
Meantime, the victim’s grandmother says the teenager has a long recovery ahead. She is in an Edmonton hospital—but the grandmother declined to provide details about her condition. The family is asking teachers and students to wear purple on Tuesday because it is the girl’s favorite colour. A teacher was also injured while trying to put out the fire.
The 14-year old girl accused of setting the fire will appear in provincial court again this week on charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault and arson.
