A 31-year-old Saskatoon man has been arrested after police were called Wednesday afternoon about a man armed with a pole. The call came in around 2:30 p.m. from the area of 20th Street West and Avenue I South. The individual was taken into custody and was found to be wanted on an outstanding warrant.
Witnesses reported seeing a man striking vehicles and swinging the pole at passersby. The accused is now facing an additional charge of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace.
Meanwhile, a couple hours earlier the Saskatoon Police Service says a 45-year-old Saskatoon man was charged with Assault with a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace and Uttering Threats after police were called around 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday.
Officers responded to a report of a man inside a store in the 100 block of Avenue P South swinging around a metal bar, striking items in the store and threatening a staff member. He then reportedly fled the scene. A suspect was located in the area and arrested. No one was hurt in either incident.
