Mixed feelings among farmers about this rain.
Growers with plenty of cereal crops in the field wish the rain would have waited a few more days—-but the moisture is needed in areas with very dry topsoil.
Rob Stone farms in the Davidson area—between Saskatoon and Regina.
Stone has harvested two-thirds of his crop, with only standing canola remaining. He says standing canola that is ready to combine can dry relatively quickly under good weather conditions. Unfortunately, cereal crops still in the fields will likely experience some downgrading.
We will get a better indication of provincial harvest progress when Saskatchewan Agriculture releases its weekly crop report on Thursday morning.
