A former Yorkton RCMP officer convicted of sexually abusing seven boys in that city and in British Columbia in the late 1970’s and early 1990’s, has been granted day parole. 64-year-old Alan Davidson, who also coached sports teams in Yorkton while stationed there, was arrested in 2014 for the incidents, and was later convicted, and sentenced to six years in prison.
The Correctional Service of Canada has recommended that Davidson, who is eligible for full parole in April, be released to a facility on Vancouver Island. In its decision, the Parole Board said Davidson was unlikely to present a risk while under the provisions of his day parole, protecting the public, while allowing him to re-integrate into society.
