The Government of Saskatchewan says $3.9 billion has been invested in road improvement in the province since 2020-21. This has included building passing lanes, maintenance and upgrading thin membrane surface (TMS) highways.
In a news release Highways Minister Lori Carr said. “This critical infrastructure helps people get to the places and services they need, while it moves the products of our key industries that create jobs and support our strong and growing export-based economy.”
Improvements include the ongoing work on Highway 5 between Saskatoon and Humboldt, installing more than 40 new passing lanes and there have been more than 85 bridge replacement or rehabilitation projects.
The government has set a goal of 10,000 kilometres of roadways improved by 2030 with an expected 5,900 kms of highways improved in the first five years.
