Friday morning, Thompson, Manitoba RCMP were getting multiple calls about a residence on fire and that people may be trapped inside. When they got there, officers helped neighbours pull an 89 year old woman to safety from a first floor window. She indicated others may be inside. A 61 year old man was able to escape by jumping from a window. A 21 year old man fled the house through the flames and was taken to hospital in critical condition. A 20 year old woman was thought to be still inside but smoke and flames kept would-be rescuers at bay. Her body was found in the home the next day. Four RCMP officers were treated for smoke inhalation. The fire remains under investigation.
