The Saskatchewan NDP are criticizing Scott Moe and the Sask. Party for the record they’ve created when it comes to health care.
According to an NDP news release, the Royal University Hospital Emergency Room reached 350 per cent capacity Tuesday night.
On top of that, the release includes statistics from The Saskatchewan Union of Nurses, which say there is only one nurse available for every 14 patients at the hospital. Fifty patients were admitted with no available beds, and 25 beds were set up in hospital hallways.
It says the emergency room also ran out of oxygen and stretchers.
Because of statistics like these, the Saskatchewan NDP promise to invest $1.1 billion to hire, train and retain healthcare workers, should they be elected. Party Leader Carla Beck also commits to keeping Saskatoon City Hospital’s emergency room open 24/7 to alleviate capacity pressures at Royal University Hospital and St. Paul’s Hospital.
