The City of Prince Albert has received its notice from the province in regards to whether or not the Ministry of Highways supports the idea of a toll on the Diefenbaker Bridge.
In a report that will be presented to PA City Council this evening (mon), the Ministry of Highways says they do not support putting a toll on any infrastructure in the province at this time, including the Diefenbaker Bridge.
The City of Prince Albert has been looking into the idea of adding a toll on the Diefenbaker Bridge for the last few years.
The goal would be to use the money collected from a toll to build a second bridge over the North Saskatchewan River.
The bridge is the only river crossing for more than 120 kilometres in either direction.
City Council could still decide to move ahead with implementing a toll.
