The Saskatoon Police Service says a man was taken to hospital Monday afternoon after being assaulted with bear spray. Police were called to the 200 block of Avenue O South around 4:30 p.m. but the actual incident occurred at Avenue M South and 21st Street. It is believed the victim and suspect are known to one another.
The Saskatoon Police Service responded to four bear spray incidents over the weekend. In all instances the suspects fled before officers arrived. In total there were seven victims with two of the attacks downtown, one in the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive and another in the 100 block of Avenue R south. In only one of those incidents was it believed the suspect and the victim knew each other.

The Saskatoon Police Service responded to four bear spray incidents over the weekend.
The first was around 9:40 p.m. Friday night at the corner of 21st Street East and 2nd Avenue South. Police say it’s believed the two female victims knew the suspects.
Saturday around 6 p.m., police were called to the 200 block of 1st Avenue south and found three victims. The suspect is described as a man in his early twenties, about six feet tall, and thin.
Around 11:30 Saturday night, officers responded to the 3300 block of Fairlight Drive and found a male victim, who was treated on the scene. The final bear spray incident of the weekend was Sunday afternoon around 5:30 when police responded to the 100 block of Avenue R South for a report of a male who had been a victim of bear spray.
In each case, the suspects fled before officers arrived.
