Esterhazy RCMP are investigating an incident which began Monday afternoon around two when a truck was stolen from a farm about 15 kilometres north of that community. Police say two males in a white Ford F150 with a Honda dirt bike in the back drove up to a Dodge truck. One of them jumped in the truck and both vehicles took off.
A witness then followed in an SUV and found the vehicles in a parking lot in Bredenbury. He parked in front of the two trucks to block them, but the Dodge truck rammed the SUV and the two trucks fled, heading south out of Bredenbury.
RCMP report that officers located the two trucks on grid road 637 and attempted a traffic stop, but both vehicles drove into the ditch and then fled. The Dodge was later found abandoned near Debuc, which is west of Esterhazy. An RCMP news release says a firearm and ammunition were stolen from inside.
The investigation is ongoing. Should there be an imminent risk to public safety, the Saskatchewan RCMP will notify the public. Anyone with information is asked to contact their local police or submit an anonymous tip through Saskatchewan Crime Stoppers.
